Tower Critique: Armor
10/09/2005
As with all things the Dhe’nar wear into battle, or use in a fight, their armor is constructed to be as inconspicuous as possible.
Why? You’re in a battle, or in a fight (which don’t have anything to do with each other, apparently)! I think the act of poking at someone with a sharp piece of metal is gonna clue them in on the fact that you’re fighting them.
No flashy ornamentation, no shining stones, simply runes and functionality.
Oh, so you meant “as -functional- as possible.” Why didn’t you say so? Where did “inconspicuous” come from?
And what’s functional about runes? Those are just flashy ornamentation.
The best example of this is their stalking leathers. Dhe’nar and dark dwarven leatherworkers carefully tan and treat the leather for this armor using a process particular to the Dhe’nar. When completed, the leather will soak in even the brightest moonlight, rendering the elf nearly invisible in the night.
Except that absorbing light doesn’t make things dark. Perhaps this should be redesigned, eh?
And why haven’t I seen any of this “glowing Dhe’nar moonlight-absorbing invisibility stalking leather” around? And good luck getting that alteration done…
Combined with the natural silence and intense training,
Well, mostly because of the training…
these items make the Dhe’nar unseen opponents with deadly skill.
All of them? Even the sedentary empaths? The bureaucrats?
Yes, Dhe’nar leathers make you a ninja.
